Organizational commitment is a job-related key attitude that is, every time more, attracting researchers� attention in the field of human resources, and organizational behaviour. In this theoretical paper, it is analysed the evolution in the study and measurement of organizational commitment. It is explained how the conception of this construct, from 1970 up to the present, has going through several phases � marked, mainly, by its dimensionality- and how it has evolved in each of them. Moreover, Meyer and Allen�s model is analyzed in depth not only because it is the one that is in force at the present but also because it is the most accepted by the scientific community.
