The economic and financial crisis has intensified the debate regarding the local government. The �Draft Bill about rationalization and sustainability of local administration� deals with, inter alia, the following points: the revision of the municipal structure and organization, the reform of local competences to avoid duplicities, the elimination both of small local entities and local associations that are not sustainable and, finally, the reduction of the number of councilors and their retributions.
