This paper addresses narratives about the past (but not just) in the contemporary context. The paper assumes the history of historiography as a source to thematize historicities. Historicities will not be treated here as specific to historiography, on the contrary, they are broad and belong to us. The dismantling of UERJ is thus the background of what we live. It entails a living and active tear, which requires reflections on theory and theory teaching in universities. Thus, in speaking of the history of the discipline, we speak of the limit of a project that intended to keep alive modern principles that were being undone.
