The number of studies on the technologies used for the production of salt and other products in Mexico and Central America has increased in recent years frorn the point of view of archaeology, anthropology and history. The subject is vast, since the salt-rnaking locations are abundant both in coastlines and inland. Many of these sites are no longer used for centuries, and others are used either interrnittent or complernentary to other activities.
