This article shows a painting study of Colombian Indians that was carried out at the beginning of the 20th century by the bachue intellectual Luis Albereto Acuña –as an attempt to contribute to the construction of a universal culture with the participation of an American modern man, built upon a national Colombian citizenship consciousness– he enrolled in representations of racial Indian inferiority, in virtue of the primitive condition of their visual organ, which consequently would limit the perception of blue and green colors and it would obviously turn visible in the subsequent absence of words to show the difference between these two colors.
