In A Theory of Justice, John Rawls presents a conceptionof justice that seeks to “overcome” the problems of utilitarianism.We believe that Rawls falls into a mistake because he attributes toAdam Smith a seat next to Hume, Mill, Sidgwick and others. So,Smith would share the typical errors of utilitarianism that we haveput into three groups: 1) the absence of a minimum moral request;2) the indistinctness of people and 3) the assumption of an “idealobserver”.
