La práctica de las Ciencias Sociales en Nayarit y Sonora

This paper presents the results of an exploratory study regarding the practice of the social sciences in two states in Mexico: Nayarit and Sonora. Both show different economic structures and dynamics, while Sonora has a modern industrial sector, Nayarit rests basically in a tertiary activity, tourism. While social exclusion is significant in Nayarit, in Sonora is relatively low. Considering these disparities this analysis seeks to determine the correspondence between the socioeconomic characteristics of the two regions and the practice of the social sciences from the educational offerings, research and academic linkage from the local higher education institutions.En este documento se exponen los resultados de un estudio exploratorio en torno a la práctica de las ciencias sociales en dos entidades del país: Nayarit y Sonora. Ambas exhiben estructuras y dinámicas económicas diferenciadas: mientras que Sonora cuenta con un sector industrial moderno, Nayarit descansa básicamente en la actividad terciaria, particularmente en turismo. En tanto que la marginación social es significativa en Nayarit, la de Sonora es relativamente baja. Considerando dichas disparidades este análisis busca determinar la correspondencia entre las características socioeconómicas de las dos regiones y la práctica de las ciencias sociales a partir de la oferta educativa y la labor de investigación y vinculación llevadas a cabo por las instituciones de educación superior locales
