Based on the analysis of the experience made during two programs of the Religious Sciences Course of the Federal University of Sergipe (UFS), during the PIBID (Institutional Scholarship Program for the Introduction to Teaching) and during the Required Curricular Internship Program, this article aims to present a short diagnosis of the situation of religious education in this Brazilian state and also to provide some recommendations regarding the training of Religious Education teachers based on the teaching principles of Social Sciences.
