Las fachadas verdes como herramienta pasiva de ahorro energético en el bloque administrativo de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, seccional Montería

Due to their structural technology the green facades positively influence the sustainability of the buildings as well as saving energy, as they decrease the warming effect and mitigate solar radiation. This research paper is based on the role of vegetation as a passive method of saving energy in the Pontifical Universidad Bolivarian University’s administrative building in Montería. According to the results these types of facades are more effective than those that use different materials. They work in a similar way to ventilated facades, and it is for this reason that they should be considered as appropriate tools to change the thermal interior atmosphere in the building that is the object of study, given their location in an area with a hot and humid climate.Por su tecnología constructiva, las fachadas verdes influyen positivamente en la sostenibilidad de los edificios y en el ahorro energético, pues disminuyen el efecto de calentamiento y mitigan la radiación solar. Esta investigación se centró en el papel de la vegetación como técnica pasiva de ahorro de energía en el edificio administrativo de la Universidad Pontificia Bolivariana, seccional Montería. Según los resultados, este tipo de fachadas serían más eficaces que las que emplean otros materiales y funcionan de una manera similar a las fachadas ventiladas. Por esa razón, deben considerarse herramientas adecuadas para modificar el ambiente térmico interior en el edificio estudiado, dada su ubicación en una zona con un clima cálido y húmedo
