Investigación participativa y redes de innovación en agroecosistemas con papayo en Cotaxtla, Veracruz, México.

The analysis of social networks can be applied to processes of rural innovation in technology transference. It helps to understand the complexity of social relationships that people or institutions form within their environment, and define the innovation networks that arise between work groups or regions. From April to May, 2011, the networks and central actors present in the association “Productora y Comercializadora de Papaya de Cotaxtla, S.P.R de R.L.” were established, which influences technology transfer in Cotaxtla, Veracruz, México. Three centrality measures were determined with the UCINET software v. 6.289: degree, betweenness and closeness. Of 32 participants in the network, 27 actively divulge the innovations according to their interest, with those with whom they must make alliances to transfer technology. Four producers stand out as central actors, which together with INIFAP, Colegio de Postgraduados and the producers’ organization itself, would be the appropriate ones to develop a technology transfer program to accelerate the diffusion and adoption of innovations. Wholesale traders, intermediaries and credit institutions do not participate in this process, but they could provide funds to finance the diffusion of innovations.El análisis de redes sociales puede ser aplicado a procesos de innovación rural en la transferencia de tecnología. Sirve para entender la complejidad de las relaciones sociales que forman las personas o instituciones en su entorno y definen las redes de innovación que se dan entre grupos de trabajo o regiones. De abril a mayo de 2011 se determinaron las redes y actores centrales presentes en la asociación “Productora y Comercia-lizadora de Papaya de Cotaxtla S.P.R. de R.L.”, que influyen en la transferencia de tecnología en Cotaxtla, Veracruz, Méxi-co. Mediante el programa UCINET v. 6.289 se determinaron tres medidas de centralidad: rango, grado de intermediación y cercanía. De 32 participantes en la red, 27 difunden acti-vamente las innovaciones de acuerdo con su interés, con los que se deben hacer alianzas para transferir tecnología. Cuatro productores resaltan como actores centrales, que junto con el INIFAP, el Colegio de Postgraduados y la propia organi-zación de productores, serían los apropiados para establecer un programa de transferencia de tecnología para acelerar la difusión y adopción de las innovaciones. Los comercializa-dores mayoristas, intermediarios e instituciones de crédito no participan en este proceso, pero podrían proveer fondos para financiar la difusión de innovaciones
