This article aims to study the role of Friar Antonio de Sotomayor, dominican, Philip IV’s confessor and general inquisitor as a paterfamilias for his lineage. His activity is a good example of the nepotism, which was practised by many members of the ecclesiastical elites in the Early Modern Spain, the same way as his position as a paterfamilias, looking after the perpetuation of the family patrimony.Este artículo tiene como objetivo estudiar el rol de fray Antonio de Sotomayor, dominico, confesor de Felipe IV e inquisidor general, como paterfamilias de su linaje.
