Carica papaya L, have been used as anti-parasitic plant in Traditional Medicine in many countries. The activity has been correlated with the alkaloid carpaine. A total alcohol extract is done using a Soxhlet system, after that and acid-base-organic solvent interchange was developed to prepare a fraction that contains mainly alkaloids. The yield of this fraction was 1 %. This extract, was evaluated with Plasmodium berghei strain showing an IC50 acceptable positive of 50 ìg/mL, different from a Leishmania amazonensis strain with IC50 of 73,3 ìg/mL.
