This article is derived from my doctoral thesis entitled “Beliefs aboutthe evaluation of learning English as a foreign language: towards aproactive evaluation.” The study was conducted in the Departmentof Linguistics and Languages of the Universidad de Nariño, under thedirection of Dr. Jesús Alirio Bastidas, using the phenomenological-hermeneuticalmethod. In-depth interviews were conducted, and the searchwas complemented by the application of surveys and the analysis often English tests performed by students.
