Índice de desempeño exportador de la industria del calzado y sus partes de Norte de Santander 2007-2012.

This paper attempts an appraisal of competitiveness levels in international trade in the footwear industryand its parts in Norte de Santander in the period 2007-2012 from the standpoint of export boom, in doingso, a methodology based on the Index of Export Performance (IDE ) is used, which is composed of sixdifferent variables that have different weightings within the index, whose rating is from 0 ( the industrywith no successful export performance ) to 10 ( the industry with successful export performance ),the results suggest that Norte de Santander’s industry is not successful and highly uncompetitive ,whose overall score of 3.8 pts IDE is the result of reduced operations at the end of the research period,low diversification in main export markets, this, together with the high dependence of a single exportmarket and low efforts regarding complexity of markets, reduces opportunities for growth and industrydevelopment both at home and abroad . Keywords: international trade, competitiveness, growth, exporter performance, industryEste artículo intenta evaluar los niveles de competitividad en el comercio internacional de la industriadel calzado y sus partes de Norte de Santander en el periodo 2007-2012 desde la perspectiva del éxitoexportador, para ello utiliza una metodología basada en el Índice de Desempeño Exportador (IDE),el cual está compuesto por síes variables que poseen distintas ponderaciones al interior del índice,cuya calificación va de 0 (la industria con desempeño exportador no exitoso), hasta 10 (la industriacon desempeño exportador exitoso); los resultados sugieren que la industria Nortesantandereana no esexitosa y muy poco competitiva, cuya calificación general del IDE de 3,8pts es producto de la reducciónde sus operaciones al final del periodo de estudio, de la escasa diversificación en mercados destino deexportación; sumado a eso la elevada dependencia hacia un único mercado de exportación y los escasosesfuerzos en cuanto a complejidad de mercados, le resta posibilidades de crecimiento y desarrollo a laindustria tanto al interior del País como en el exterior.
