Intervención educativa para mejorar los conocimientos del autocuidado en puérperas

Objective: to determine the influence of an educational intervention to improve self-care knowledge in post-partum women of a public hospital in North Metropolitan Lima. Materials and methods: a pre-experimental study was carried out with an educational intervention method on self-care in 40 puerperal women through a flipchart and a triptych. The study was taken in two stages (pre and post) to measure knowledge about self-care. Results: significant changes were found in the post intervention, improving knowledge about self-care from an average of 16.8 to 22.7 (p=<0.001). Likewise, it was observed that in the dimensions of puerperal activity and control, these increased by an average of 1.6 (p=<0.001) and with respect to the control of lochia and use of medication they increased by an average of 0.9 thanks to the intervention (p=<0.001). Conclusion: the educational intervention allowed to increase the knowledge about self-care in puerperal women. Nursing personnel are suggested to apply preventive measures for postpartum women in order to reduce the possibility of hospital readmission and separation with their baby.Resumen Objetivo: determinar la influencia de una intervención educativa para mejorar los conocimientos del autocuidado en mujeres puérperas de un hospital público de Lima Metropolitana Norte. Materiales y métodos: se realizó un estudio pre-experimental con método de una intervención educativa sobre el autocuidado en 40 mujeres puérperas mediante un rotafolio y un triptico.
