This article analyzes the relationship between specific horror and violence spaces linked to a given scenario or degree of visibility. In order to do so, the journey through the iconography of suffering will be outlined: from the torture theater described by Foucault in Discipline and punish, to the triviality, the pornography and the infinite proliferation of images of horror in the contemporary mass culture. According to J. Butler, all images in which the vulnerability of the other is portrayed, work as intelligibility frames. Semantic frames in which the so called “precarious life” emerges.
