Aproximación al uso de rúbricas para la evaluación de textos argumentativos escritos en la Universidad

One of the most demanded types of text in higher education is argumentation, present in different discursive genres such as the academic essay. Therefore, becoming familiarized with the features and structures of argumentative texts and the different kinds of arguments is essential to perform in the different disciplines. On the other hand, research shows that collaborative writing, peer review and the use of rubrics improve the quality of written productions in different educational levels. The objective of this paper is to present the impact of a rubric for the evaluation of argumentative texts in higher education. We will report on the process of elaboration of the rubric (creation, validation and pilot experiment) and its dimensions (content, argumentation and persuasion, coherence and cohesion, and use of the linguistic norm), as well as the results about the students’ perception of its use. Results show the students’ positive response and the tool’s potential. We find it convenient to elaborate rubrics for the different types of text and discursive academic genres in higher education. En la universidad uno de los tipos de textos más demandados es el argumentativo. Esto se puede apreciar en diferentes géneros discursivos como el ensayo académico. Así pues, estar familiarizados con las características de los textos argumentativos, sus posibles estructuras y los diferentes tipos de argumentos es fundamental para desempeñarse correctamente en las diferentes disciplinas. Además, se ha mostrado cómo la escritura colaborativa, la revisión por pares y el uso de rúbricas mejoran la calidad de las producciones escritas en diferentes niveles educativos. El presente trabajo tiene como objetivo presentar la incidencia de una rúbrica para la evaluación de textos argumentativos en educación superior. Para ello se presentará el proceso de elaboración de la rúbrica (creación, validación y pilotaje), las dimensiones de las que consta (contenido, argumentación y persuasión, coherencia y cohesión, y uso de la norma lingüística) así como los resultados sobre la percepción que tienen los estudiantes de su uso. Los resultados muestran una respuesta positiva por parte de los estudiantes y el potencial didáctico de la herramienta.
