This article focuses on the literary activity of several secretaries and officials of the viceroys of Naples at the end of the seventeenth century. They are presented as mediators and agents of cultural transfers in the sense defined by Michel Espagne. The biographical patterns they shared are explored. Methodologically this perspective allows us to go beyond the studies of cultural patronage of the viceroys, which usually focuse in high-ranking nobles and cultural patronage of wide impact.
