On the coming celebration of the 200 years of independence of Costa Rica, the condition of the electoral system is critical. The seats assigned to Congress are not proportionated to the votes received by the political parties. In addition, the relationship between representatives and represented is increasingly distant. This article qualitatively and quantitatively analyzes these topics and proposes improvements. The oldest democracy in Latin America, within the framework of its Bicentennial of Independence, should be committed to making profound reforms to how it elects its citizens to the different branches of government, especially the model used for Congress elections.A las puertas de la celebración de sus 200 años de vida independiente...
