Los problemas sociales del centro histórico y cultural de Barranquila

The research was aimed to show the existence of the historic center of Barranquilla, and its relationship with the social problems of the city. To this end an analytical descriptive design was used research showing that there is a strong identity of citizens with its historic center as a cultural asset in permanent construction. The case of Barranquilla is analyzed as its social and urban evolution differs from the many historic towns of the Colombian Caribbean. A notable result is that despite being a modern city, Barranquilla has a historical, dynamic and complex center, where it originated its expansion to become the fourth largest city in Colombia. It was also concluded that the historic center of Barranquilla and power concentrated all social problems such as poverty, drugs, crime, etc.., Which urges social recovery before and architectural aesthetics.La investigación tuvo como propósito mostrar la existencia del Centro Histórico de Barranquilla, y su relación con los problemas sociales de la ciudad. Para tal fin se utilizó un diseño de investigación descriptivo- analítico que demuestra la existencia de una fuerte identidad de los ciudadanos y ciudadanas con su centro histórico como un bien cultural en permanente construcción. Se analiza el caso de Barranquilla dado que su evolución social y urbana difiere de las muchas ciudades históricas del Caribe colombiano. Un resultado notable es que pese a ser una ciudad moderna, Barranquilla, tiene un centro histórico, dinámico y complejo, donde se originó su expansión hasta convertirse en la cuarta ciudad más importante de Colombia. Igualmente se concluye que el centro histórico de Barranquilla concentra y potencia todos los problemas sociales tales como la pobreza, drogas, crimen, etc., que urgen una recuperación social antes que arquitectónica y estética
