Aborto medicamentoso: transferencias militantes y transnacionalización de saberes en Argentina y América Latina

I n this study, we aim to outline a genealogy of the use of misoprostol in Argentina and characterize the models of accompanying and counseling in abortion by feminist organiza- tions and the public health system. We des- cribe the different processes that lead to the dis- semination of practice and knowledge about the abortive use of misoprostol in Argentina, in particular the experimental self-appropriation by women, the pre and post abortion counseling in the public health system and the role of fe- minist organizations in the dissemination of in- formation and the support in abortion. These processes of transnationalization and cultural transfers of knowledge and approaches lead to local models in Argentina that seem antago- nistic. On the one hand, there is the public health model, whose main argument is the reduction of maternal mortality, which gives it biolegitimacy. On the other, a model that ques- tions the hegemonic definition of abortion as something wrong. The latter model intends to install a heretical discourse. In practice, we will see how these models coexist forming a continuum of discourses and militant practices that seeks to ensure rights and modify the dominant meanings.Nos proponemos esbozar una genealogía del uso del misoprostol en Argentina y caracterizar los modelos de acompañamiento y consejerías en aborto desde organizaciones feministas y el sistema público de salud. Describimos los diversos procesos que dan lugar a la difusión de la práctica y los saberes sobre el uso abortivo del misoprostol en Argentina, particularmente la apropiación experimental que hacen las propias mujeres, las consejerías pre y post aborto del sistema público de salud y las iniciativas de difusión de la información y acompañamientos en aborto desde el feminismo. Estos procesos de transnacionalización y transferencias culturales de saberes y abordajes dan lugar a modelos locales aparentemente antagónicos: un modelo de salud pública, con la reducción de la mortalidad materna como argumento principal que le otorga biolegitimidad, y otro modelo centrado en el cuestionamiento a la caracterización hegemónica del aborto como mal, que busca instalar un discurso herético. En la práctica, veremos cómo estos modelos coexisten conformando un continuum de discursos y prácticas militantes que buscan garantizar derechos y modificar los sentidos establecidos
