La condición melancólica no ha quedado en el pasado

There have been different conceptions about mel-ancholy, a term that has fallen into disuse for more than a century and which is necessary bring it to present to support a critique from the perspective of Freudian psychoanalysis to the drug therapy medicine used by psychiatry. We follow dif-ferent moments in the history of melancholy, starting from V century BC going through the Renaissance, to reach the psy-chiatry of the nineteenth century and arrive at Freudian psy-choanalysis at the beginning of the 20th century. Many of these historical visions, show similarity with psychoanalysis in terms of their conception of melancholy, referring to their treatment and their non-strictly medical nature. Psychoanal-ysis, without neglecting corporeality, argues that the origin of melancholy cannot be understood only from an organic per-spective, but involves the body as materiality crossed by de-sire.Ha habido diferentes concepciones sobre la melancolía, un término que ha caído en desuso desde hace más de un siglo y que es necesario traer al presente para respaldar una crítica desde la perspectiva del psicoanálisis freudiano a la terapéutica medicamentosa utilizada por la psiquiatría. Seguimos distintos momentos de la historia, por ejemplo, en la antigüedad con Aristóteles, Homero e Hipócrates, pasamos por el renacimiento sobre todo con Ficino, llegamos a la psiquiatría del siglo XIX con Esquirol y Pinel y arribamos al psicoanálisis freudiano a principios del siglo XX. Estas corrientes filosóficas, literarias, religiosas y astrológicas, muestran semejanza con el psicoanálisis en cuanto a su concepción de melancolía refiriéndonos a su tratamiento y su carácter no estrictamente médico.
