Abstract: The National Commission for the Development of the Indian Groups of Mexico (CDI for the Spanish terms) supports productive projects for women aiming to incorporate them into development and transform their conditions of life. In this work I analyze the senses and implications a developmental project has given to Maya women and the employees of the state, based on their personal experiences and social representations. An important aspect resulting from the analysis is that there are generally two distinct vision involved in the relationship between the women and the institutions; both visions converge at some points but strongly differ at others.
