This study addresses research conducted on specific literacy practices, namely those involving Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) at first and second level education. Taking the coursework of Portuguese and Literacy students as a departure point, a theoretical framework has been developed to interpret the discourse of said students. This works as a means to analyse the scope of recent educational dynamic practices that the latter embody, emphasising the new identities of the trainees and the inherent processes of their construction and reconstruction.
