The institutionalization of science education as an academic discipline, during the period before 1933, had resulted in social and cognitive different forms in both: Germany and the United States. However, until the last decades of the nineteenth century, in both countries, pedagogy was part of European classical philosophy of education. Empirical research approaches that have increasingly developed from the 1880s would be adopted in each country in different ways.
