Introduction: Hepatitis B (HBV) and C (HCV) viruses are a serious public health problem and a risk to transfusional medicine and blood banks. Objective: To determine the prevalence of HBV and HCV and its associated factors in a blood bank of Medellin. Methods: Cross-sectiona study with all donors of the bank. Secondary information source was employed, bias control was based on the use of high sensitivity screening tests, internal and external quality control of the bank, and contingency verification.
