The study of phonological impairments displayed in the speech of aphasic patients is one of the most prominent topics of the pathology of language. Although these impairments were known since the first moment aphasia became a matter of study, it was not until the 60�s that they were analysed using the own patient�s output. In this way, it has been possible to distinguish different selective patterns of impairment across clinical categories and to explain them through the various models generated in the study of normal processing of language.
