El desafío filosófico del libro sobre los signos. Un balance de los aportes y limitaciones de Las palabras y las cosas de Michel Foucault

Fifty years after its publication, this article tries to establish the place of The order of things in the first period of the trajectory of its author. To do so, we have taken into consideration the theoretical challenges assumed, the categories coined and the perspective of approach designed by Michel Foucault to carry out his own philosophical program. Hence the need to incorporate into the analysis two other relevant texts of the period, namely the Complementary Thesis where, with the excuse of specifying the genesis and structure of The anthropology in the pragmatic sense of Kant, our author outlined his project and The archeology of knowledge in which he explained his methodological tools. Guided through this triad and without ignoring the problematic aspects, the article tries to show the philosophical validity of the text that at the time was conceived by its author as "the book of signsA cincuenta años de su publicación, en este artículo se intenta establecer el lugar de Las palabras y las cosas en el primer periodo de la trayectoria de su autor. Para hacerlo, se ha tomado en consideración los desafíos teóricos asumidos, las categorías acuñadas y la perspectiva de abordaje diseñada por Michel Foucault para llevar a cabo su propio programa filosófico. De allí la necesidad de incorporar al análisis otros dos textos relevantes del periodo, a saber, la Tesis Complementaria en dónde, con la excusa de precisar la génesis y estructura de la Antropología en sentido pragmático de Kant, nuestro autor delineó su proyecto y La arqueología del saber en el cual explicitó sus herramientas metodológicas. Orientándose a través de esta tríada y sin ignorar los aspectos problemáticos, el artículo procura mostrar la vigencia filosófica del texto que en su momento fue concebido por su autor como “el libro de los signos
