The portfolio has been a facilitating strategy to learn and teach foreign languages. This study had as objectives to make students aware of the importance of learning, explore the use of portfolio as an assessment tool to develop self evaluation, and to value the use of portfolio to foster self reflection and autonomy in learning a FL. Participants were students of Education majoring in English and Journalism at the University of Los Andes, Dr. Pedro Rincón Gutiérrez (San Cristóbal, Venezuela). Interviews, a questionnaire and self evaluations were used to gather data.
