CT3, a flavonoid from Chromolaena tacotana diminishes cell viability after 48 hours of treatment on cell line K562. After 8 hours of treatment, the flavonoid induces a significant change in mitochondria membrane potential, maintaining it to 12 hours with a subsequent appearance of apoptotic cells. It�s possible that the effect caused by flavonoid CT3, have relation with an increase of cell cycle subphase G0/G1 (corresponding to apoptotic cells).
