This paper is a reflection prior to the creation of a didactic proposal on the subject of music addressed to the 1st and 2nd grades of Compulsory Secondary Education. As a researcher, musicologist and secondary teacher, it is important to meditate about the methodological strategies we use. High Schools are disciplinary devices that organizes time and space in a functional and hierarchical way, under what is understood as “effective” (Foucault). In music teaching we find limitations that come from the use of History and the traditional grammar of Western Music as an exclusive reference, excluding the various significant contexts of a heterogeneous student public.
