This paper examines psychiatric diagnosis-making within biopsychiatry. The widely accepted statement that diagnosis is the result of clinical judgement is mainstream in psychiatric domain. However drawing on Actor-Network Theory and the notion of trajectory established by Strauss (2010), it is proposed that psychiatric diagnosis derives as well from the actions performed by psychotropics. These actions are the effects produced in the patient´s body and the significances carried by psychotropic drugs in clinical practices, concerning the information validated as scientific evidence for the substance.
