• Objective: to describe some complications appearing during the peri- and postoperative period and to report on the comfort / pain perceptions of patients on awakening from anaesthesia. • Methodology: A prospective study was carried out on patients undergoing cardiac surgery hospitalized in a Cardiology Intensive Care Unit (CICU) over a 3 month period. A coded register was used to evaluate several complications, some perioperative occurring in the CS theatre (bleeding, arrhythmia, treatment), while others arose in the CICU (arrhythmias, pain and anaesthetic treatments).
