Complexidade institucional: um estudo bibliométrico na publicação recente em teoria institucional

In this bibliometric study we discuss the institutional complexity in eleven journals in business administration and organization studies. We try to identify the main features of the present Institutional Theory discussion in organization theory. The main research techniques we used were citation, co-citation, factorial bibliometric analysis and multidimensional scaling to identify the most influential studies and the main themes that are interwoven in institutional complexity (institutional logics, conflicts, changes and identity). The sample consisted of 43 articles and more than 3000 references cited. The most cited works were grouped into three factors that represent the emergent topics in institutional complexity. The results show the emergence of a new set of important concepts in the context of the institutional theory, such as institutional logics, conflict, change, identity, strategy. That set of concepts is diverse from that one typical of the institutionalism in organizations, in the 90´s. Complementarily, we identify authors and papers that can be considered central in organizational institutionalism, according to the journals that we take as part of our sample.Neste estudo bibliométrico pesquisamos a complexidade institucional em onze periódicos científicos da área de Administração. Buscamos identificar os contornos atuais da discussão em Teoria Institucional, ao apresentar trabalhos que compõem esse desdobramento. Utilizamos técnicas bibliométricas de análise de citação, co-citação, fatorial e escalonamento multidimensional para identificar os estudos mais influentes e os principais temas com os quais se encontra imbricada a discussão a respeito de complexidade institucional. A amostra utilizada foi composta por 43 artigos e mais de 3 mil referências citadas. Os trabalhos mais citados foram agrupados em três fatores que representam as temáticas emergentes da complexidade institucional. Os resultados apontam para a emergência de novo conjunto de conceitos importantes na teoria institucional, principalmente aqueles de lógicas institucionais, conflito, mudança, identidade, estratégia. Tal conjunto é bastante diverso daquele que marcava o institucionalismo em organizações, até o final da década de 90.
