Entendendo a atitude ao endividamento: fatores comportamentais e variáveis socioeconômicas o determinam?

The comprehension about aspects related to debt is a point that has been frequently discussed in the academy, however, only a few studies have related behavioural and socioeconomic factors to the attitude to indebtedness. In this sense, the objective of this study is to identify the influence of behavioural factors and socioeconomic variables regarding indebtedness. To achieve it, we researched 1.458 individuals who live in 31 counties in the Western Central Mesoregion of Rio Grande do Sul. To analyse the data, the descriptive statics, tests for difference of means (t test and Post Hoc) and the analysis of a linear regression have been made. The main results show that, on average, the respondents do not have tendency to accumulate debts, they are not tolerant to risk, they have low attitude to indebtedness, an adequate financial attitude, they are not compulsive buyers and they have a good financial behaviour. Finally, it has been identified that men should worry in a more effective way with the maintenance of a financial attitude, avoiding compulsive shopping and maintaining adequate financial behaviour. A compreensão dos aspectos inerentes à dívida é um tema muito discutido na academia, todavia, são poucos os estudos que relacionam aspectos comportamentais e socioeconômicos à atitude ao endividamento. Nesse sentido, o objetivo deste trabalho é identificar a influência de fatores comportamentais e de variáveis socioeconômicas na atitude ao endividamento. Para isso foram pesquisadas 1.468 pessoas, residentes em 31 municípios pertencentes à Mesorregião Centro Ocidental Rio-grandense. Para análise dos dados, realizou-se a estatística descritiva, os testes de diferença de média (teste t e Post Hoc) e a análise de regressão linear. Os principais resultados revelam que, em média, os entrevistados não possuem tendência ao acúmulo de dívida, não são tolerantes ao risco, possuem uma baixa atitude ao endividamento, uma adequada atitude financeira, não são compradores compulsivos e detêm um bom comportamento financeiro. Por fim, identificou-se que os homens devem preocupar-se de maneira mais efetiva com a manutenção de uma boa atitude financeira, bem como evitar as compras compulsivas e manter um comportamento financeiro adequado.
