Creole languages have been traditionally considered as varieties of colonizing and dominant languages, sharing with them a diglossia relationship and therefore, they have a minor institutional recognition. As they possess several contributions of other linguistic systems, they have been labelled as “mixed” languages or “planned” languages, so the multiple character of their composition as well as the context in which they develop have been forgotten.
