Abstract: This study contributes to the area of university innovation in teacher education. It first describes the implementation of a teaching project that includes research on social collectives that is carried out by students majoring in early childhood and elementary education; then the paper analyzes the impact on the participants’ education. The evaluations of 234 students are studied, before and after the experience, through questionnaires and focus groups. The analysis focuses on knowledge, belonging, and participation in organizations, the relevance attributed to this participation, and the evaluation of the teaching method.
