Cancer stem cells are responsible for the formation, development of tumors, where it has been established that these contribute to a functional heterogeneity in various cancers, including also involved in metastasis. The detailed study of the biology of these cells targeted new treatments involve the removal of these cells to avoid self-renewal of tumors. In this review paper shows cells in cancer progression of the disease and its self-renewal properties, heterogeneity and resistance to apoptosis. We detail the processes that cause epigenetic alterations and mutations of the genes responsible for promoting the formation of cancer stem cells.Las células madre del cáncer son las responsables de la formación, desarrollo de los tumores, en don...
