The role that labor unions have played in the U.S. appears to be subject of a great deal of debate. Many studies point out the positive effects and gains obtained by unions over the years. However, the issue of labor union discrimination against females and minorities is often overlooked. This paper discusses some of the practices that labor unions have strongly supported, and have resulted in discriminatory practices against females and minorities.
