This paper will examine some aspects of the combination of play and humour which, from the end of the 19th to the opening decades of the 20th century, produced novels which may be considered real masterworks in experimentation. Starting from the collective novel Las vírgenes locas (1886) to Luis Álvarez Petreña (1934-1965- 1970), Jusep Torres Campalans, (1958), and Juego de cartas by Max Aub, as well as works by the humourists of the so-called “Other generation of 27”, and the Falsas novelas (1945) by Ramón Gómez de la Serna, the paper will examine the way in which humour challenges the reader while at the same time playing with him.Este trabajo se propone analizar algunos aspectos de la combinación entre humor y juego que surge desde final...
