Studying children’s emotions involves a complex phenomenon. Its understanding implicates procedures that register changes in cardiac frequency, electrodermic response, neural activation and evidence linked to children’s speech, maternal assessment and facial gestures changes. In the present study, we describe different kind of methodology used to understand identification, comprehension, categorization and regulation of emotions, describing the principal neurophysiological and behavioral methods used in the last ten years. The lack of evidence and the contradictory conclusions show that there are not researches which study this phenomenon in its multidimensionality.
