Cacería y Cosmovisión en una Comunidad Ayuuk en San José el Paraíso, Oaxaca, México

The Ayuuk Ja’ay (mixes) have a particular way of relating to wildlife, since the use that is given through hunting depends on their cosmovision. Therefore, the objective was to describe and analyze the ceremonies and taboos that determine the practice of the hunting of the mixes of San José El Paraíso (Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca). Through participant observation, field trips and semi-structured interviews with 20 experts and participants of the activity, between January and April 2016, it was documented that: a) the return ceremony –from bony parts of the dams, to their Owners– fulfills the function, among other things, of the hunter obtaining a new hunting permit; b) amulets grant fortune in hunting, as attractive objects); c) the importance of the animals is reflected in: the divine and those of hunting; and, finally, d) there are taboos as an indirect form of regulation, since they involve respect for animals that are not allowed to hunt, access to sacred spaces, and the proper use of bush meat. The Mixe cosmovision, as far as the natural and supernatural world is concerned, allows that there is still consideration and respect towards the wild fauna, and, in a decisive way, towards its Owners and other protective spirits, fact that is reflected in the continuity of traditional practices of hunting activity control.Los Ayuuk Ja’ay (mixes) tienen una forma particular de relacionarse con la fauna silvestre, ya que el aprovechamiento que se da a través de la cacería depende de su cosmovisión. Por ello, el objetivo fue describir y analizar las ceremonias y tabúes que determinan la práctica de la cacería de los mixes de San José El Paraíso (Santo Domingo Tehuantepec, Oaxaca). Mediante observación participante, recorridos de campo y entrevistas semi-estructuradasa 20 conocedores y participantes de la actividad, entre enero y abril del 2016, se documentó que: a) la ceremonia de devolución –de partes óseas de las presas, a sus Dueños– cumple con la función, entre otras cosas, del cazador obtener un nuevo permiso de cacería; b) los amuletos conceden fortuna en la caza, como objetos atrayentes); c) la importancia de los animales se refleja en: los divinos y los de caza; y, finalmente, d) existen tabúes como forma indirecta de regulación, ya que involucran el respeto a los animales que no son permitidos cazar, al no acceso a los espacios sagrados, y al uso adecuado de la carne de monte. La cosmovisión mixe, en lo que concierne al mundo natural y sobrenatural, permite que aún haya consideración y respeto hacia la fauna silvestre, y, de formadeterminante, hacia sus Dueños y otros espíritus protectores, hecho éste que se ve reflejado en la continuidad de prácticas tradicionales de control de la actividad de la cacería
