From a systematic review of the literature, this paper aims to characterize the most widespread academic production in the last fifteen years on the knowledge creation in organizations, presenting the epistemological currents, the concepts used, the different types and the main barriers and enablers cited in publications. The results suggest that knowledge creation can be conceived as a collaborative process of external expertise and internal organizations, and that there are many ways of creating different types of knowledge depending on the organizational context.
