Nine native corn varieties were characterized phenotypically and grain yield (GY) and green forage yield (GFY) were calculated for material collected in Tabasco, Mexico. Most of the maize collected corresponding to the nal-tel de altura, tuxpeño and zapalote grande races. The index GFY was the highest in nal-tel de altura race, with yield of 32.0-47.4 t ha-1; the higher GY index was calculated for zapalote race, with values of 4.0-4.3 t ha-1. The phenotypic characters: ear width and number of grain by row, were positive correlated with GY. GFY not was correlate significantly with plan heigh variables.
