This intracultural comparison conducted in Central Mexico among rural-born women reveals that there may be culture-specific caregiving styles or practices that are related to the caregivers� folk theory of child-rearing and child development. A score for each caregiver was derived from a subset of interview questions which were related to cognitive development, specially comprehension. Two folk theories emerged. An interactive theory was related to the provision of more nonverbal information which facilitates comprehension, while a maturational theory was related to providing less contextual information when there was a lack of comprehension on the part of the child.Esta comparación intracultural realizada en México Central entre mujeres ru...
