La herencia jesuita en el arte de los indígenas del noroeste de México

This article evaluates the importance of the artistic legacy of the Society of Jesus, left within the indigenous community in northwestern Mexico during the colonial period. For this purpose, the article, on one hand, reviews the colonial sources, written by missionaries who tangentially address the topic, and on the other hand, uses information from current ethnographies on the region's various indigenous groups. It also uses "data" taken from the ritual experience at the heart of these indigenous communities in northwestern Mexico. Among the accounts the most remarkable are from Cristóbal de Cañas, Eusebio Kino, Jean Fonte, Andrés Perez de Ribas, and Mateo Mange, as well as scattered documents from Jesuits who lived in the northwestern Mexico and the Baja California peninsula in the seventeenth century and the first half of the eighteenth century during the conquest of the region.El objeto principal de este artículo es hacer una evaluación de la trascendencia del legado artístico que dejara la Compañía Jesús en la población indígena del noroeste de México durante la época colonial. Para alcanzar este objetivo se revisan, por un lado, las fuentes coloniales escritas por los misioneros que tratan tangencialmente esta temática y, por otro, se utiliza información suministrada por la etnografía contemporánea de diversos grupos indígenas de la región, y los "datos" derivados de la experiencia ritual en el seno mismo de las comunidades indígenas del nordeste mexicano. Entre las crónicas utilizadas destacan las de Cristóbal de Cañas, Eusebio Kino, Jean Fonte, Andrés Pérez de Ribas, Mateo Mange y documentos dispersos de los jesuitas que habitaron en el noroeste de México y en la península de Baja California en el siglo XVII, y en la primera mitad del siglo XVIII durante la conquista de la región
