The objective of this study was to identify the risk and protection factors for school readiness in children between five and six years old, from Rio do Sul/SC. The participants were 130 children who were studying in one of the seven public pre-schools visited as well as their parents. The parental support was evaluated in its four domains: engaged activities, available stimulus, parental practices that promote a link between family and school, and predictable activities.
