Cambios en propiedades físicas de un vertic haplustalf por aplicación de abono orgánico fermentado (aof)

The agricultural production causes impacts on the soil which alters its physical, chemical and biologicalcharacteristics. However, literature tells us about the recuperation of the soil’s characteristics when organic matter is added. In fact, organic matter restores the soil’s productive capacity. This reason motivated this project, which evaluated the changes occurred in the structural stability, retention of humidity, usable humidity, bulk density and consistency based on the application of fermented organic fertilizers (AOF) during two and eight years in a “vertichaplustalf”. This evaluation wasdone with cropsof vegetables, legumes, tubers and grasses. It is important to mention that the soil used for this experiment was during more than 50 years grown with potatoes in rotation with barley and this was done with the use of traditional agricultural techniques. During this time, the addition of organic matter was only used through stubbles. The results showed that the incorporation of organic fertilizers helped the soil, regarding its physical characteristics evaluated. The benefits of the use of organic fertilizers increase when it is done consistently.La producción agrícola provoca en los suelos impactos que alteran sus condiciones físicas, químicas y biológicas; sin embargo la literatura reporta recuperación en las características edáficas al agregar materia orgánica, devolviéndole al suelo su capacidad productiva; esta razón motivó un proyecto para evaluar los cambios ocurridos en la estabilidad estructural, retención de humedad, humedad aprovechable, densidad aparente y consistencia respecto a la aplicación de abonos orgánicos fermentados (AOF), durante dos y ocho años en un “haplustalfvértico” con cultivos de hortalizas, leguminosas, tubérculos y gramíneas. Teniendo en cuenta que este suelo durante más de 50 años estuvo plantado en cultivos de papa en rotación con cebada en agricultura convencional y las adiciones de materia orgánica solo se hacían con incorporación de rastrojo. Los resultados mostraron que la incorporación de ésta favorece al suelo en la mejora de las condiciones físicas evaluadas, en especial cuando se hace asiduamente
