The identification of palm species at the seedling stage is difficult. In order to have a practical approach for recognition by the ecologist and horticulturist, and considering the peculiarity of these seedlings to maintain long adhered its fruit-seed, the morphological aspects at the fruit, seed (pyrene) and seedling were studied to differentiate six native species in a cloudy forest at Lara state, Venezuela. The size and shape of the seed, and the endosperm (homogeneous or ruminate) were important to separate the species Chamaedorea pinnatifrons check for this species in other resources (Jacq.)
