This article presents the results of a study that examined the impact of IDEB disclosure on school and teaching organization in a municipal school in Campina Grande / Paraíba. It examines how the results of IDEB have been assimilated and used by the school and how the teachers position themselves against this index. To that end, we conducted a case study in a school that came in at IDEB below average in Campina Grande / PB in 2007. A review of the literature dealing with the reform of the State in the country and of the State as evaluator was made along with a study of the legislation establishing the policy of external evaluation of education throughout the country.
